Reconnecting house to garden through sweeping panoramic views

The existing Federation style brick house had seen an unsympathetic rear extension, which was detached from the Alek and Roy’s Japanese inspired garden. It boasted traditional gallery like proportions, with high ceilings and ornate details. With this in mind, we created an extension, which maintained the home’s high ceilings and space proportions, and juxtaposed it with a light and contemporary feel.

To celebrate the landscape as a visual feature, the new addition uses a series of horizontal windows and openings, creating a panoramic view of the garden.
