Newtown Terrace House: Completion

Newtown Terrace House: Completion

  • Newtown Terrace House

Clients Mayu & Danny came to us with a 3.2m wide terrace sitting on a 3.7m wide site in Newtown’s Heritage Conservation Area. Requiring more space, light and air, we were tasked with finding a comfortable, and contextually sensitive solution for this dark and narrow home.

To maximise the amount of usable space available, we designed a new addition sitting behind the ridge line of the original terrace. By building boundary to boundary in width, we were able to maximise living spaces which open out onto a rear deck and garden. Bays were created along the length of the addition to provide extra storage for the family home, while maintaining the overall width. North facing highlight windows, and a skillion roof provide much needed light & natural ventilation into the deep centre of the house.
