Heritage Charm in Haberfield: DA Approved
August 23, 2023
The Development Application for our Heberfield residence has successfully received Council approval. Situated within the historical Heritage Conservation Area of Haberfield, this original Federation cottage, dating back to around 1911 is part of the area’s historical charm.
Over the years, the house has undergone a series of alterations and additions. Notably, the modern rear extensions, including an oversized double garage, were introduced during the 1980s. Regrettably, some of the original architectural elements have been lost amidst these changes.
Our clients envision the potential of transforming this house into their permanent family home. They are enthusiastic about revitalising certain period features within the existing house. Additionally, a new pavilion at the rear of the property is proposed that will encompass a bedroom wing, an open-plan kitchen, living, and dining area that seamlessly connects to the garden, blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. In harmony with this vision, a modest single garage will replace the existing oversized double garage, meeting parking and storage needs while liberating backyard space for an Australian native garden—a passion of the owner.
We are excited that the project is going out to tender in October 2023 and construction will commence early 2024.
