Centennial Park Estate: Transformations

Centennial Park Estate: Transformations

Progress – March 2014

The roof structure is underway, showing the extent of the transformation of the compromised rear of the house into a third street frontage. This conversion is now more respectful of its corner position on the street.

The images below document the stages of the house before demolition, its progress during construction and the final result (model). It was said that even during the homeʼs current deconstructed state, it exhibits a character similar to that of a stage or set, waiting for action to ensue. As we see it, architecture is not purely about the design of buildings, but more about the making of spaces. It is all encompassing and includes landscape design, interior design and set design. A building is seen not as an end in itself, but as a means of making space together with its context, both internally and externally.
