A Croydon Family Home Reimagined: Concept Design

A Croydon Family Home Reimagined: Concept Design

Located in the quiet suburb of Croydon, the original house, constructed in the 1910s, boasts significant Queen Anne architectural features in its front section. Meanwhile, the rear of the house, a fibro lean-to laundry and a rumpus room built in the 80’s, a common characteristic of older homes in the area.

Recognising the underutilization of the space and the growing needs of a young family, a comprehensive upgrade and extension project became imperative. Our vision involves preserving the original house while introducing a two-story modern-style rear addition. Adjacent to the new swimming pool, a carefully designed cabana offers ample outdoor living space, seamlessly connecting to the rear garden. A meticulously landscaped driveway not only meets Council heritage requirements but also serves as a practical secondary entry to the house, offering parking convenience.

The heart of the home lies in the contemporary kitchen, living, and dining area, celebrated through expansive glazing with a northern aspect, framing the courtyard swimming pool and the back garden as a focal point. This open-plan arrangement creates a harmonious flow throughout the space. Upstairs, a spacious master bedroom with ensuite serves as a private parent retreat.
