A Croydon Family Home Renovation: Concept Design

Croydon Family Home Renovation: Concept Design

This Croydon family home renovation reimagines a much-loved Queen Anne residence for modern family living. Located in the quiet, leafy suburb of Croydon, the original house—built in the 1910s—boasts beautiful period features at the front. However, the rear of the property, a fibro lean-to laundry and a 1980s rumpus room, reflected a common but dated addition seen in many homes in the area.

Recognising the home’s untapped potential and the evolving needs of a growing young family, we embarked on a comprehensive renovation and extension. The design preserves the heritage-listed front while introducing a bold, modern two-storey rear addition that brings new life to this Croydon home renovation. A streamlined cabana adjacent to the new swimming pool adds functional outdoor space, ideal for entertaining, while framing views into the rear garden.

One of the key goals of the family home renovation was to connect indoor and outdoor living. At its centre is a spacious, light-filled kitchen, dining, and living area with north-facing glazing that opens to the courtyard and pool. This open-plan layout ensures seamless flow and a sense of calm throughout the space.

A landscaped driveway respects Council heritage controls while functioning as a practical secondary entrance. Upstairs, the new master bedroom with ensuite creates a serene parents’ retreat—private, elevated, and peaceful.

This Croydon family home renovation not only enhances day-to-day living but also balances the charm of the past with a vision for the future.
