Glebe Heritage Home Renovation: 7 Arcadia Road by PWA

Glebe heritage home renovation is at the heart of our work at PWA, and 7 Arcadia Road is a prime example. This beautifully restored Federation-era house in Sydney’s Inner West showcases how thoughtful design can preserve history while creating a home for modern living.

“Oudenard,” originally an impressive family residence, was built speculatively by Patrick O’Reilly in 1895, shortly after the prestigious streetscape’s subdivision from the Allen Estate. After a century of use “Oudenard” had fallen into a state of disrepair. Comprehensive renovation was needed to undo its conversion to a boarding house. The owners’ aim was to rehabilitate a local landmark, as primarily a family home. But “Oudenard” was always more a family retreat, a creative refuge, so close to the push and pull from the city’s heart.
