“Oudenard,” originally an impressive family residence, was built speculatively by Patrick O’Reilly in 1895, shortly after the prestigious streetscape’s subdivision from the Allen Estate. After a century of use “Oudenard” had fallen into a state of disrepair. Comprehensive renovation was needed to undo its conversion to a boarding house. The owners’ aim was to rehabilitate a local landmark, as primarily a family home. But “Oudenard” was always more a family retreat, a creative refuge, so close to the push and pull from the city’s heart.
